So what is Herjab?
Herjab is a term I came up with that resembles Hijab (Islamic Headscarf). It sounds funny, but when you hear the story behind it, trust me, you’ll think it’s brilliant.
The Western media continuously portrays women who wear the hijab as oppressed. I, a hijabi myself, know for a fact the media’s definition of hijab is far beyond the truth. The media portray Muslim women from a man’s perspective. All we hear are the words HE or HIS in stories that cover Muslim women. When do we ever hear HER or SHE? When does SHE get to speak?
Herjab isn’t just a fashion blog; it’s a lifeline that every woman can can access 24/7 for advice, tips and styling techniques. Herjab crosses geographical boundaries and challenges stereotypes through the power of art and fashion. It relates to all women, regardless of age, color or ethnicity. Herjab encourages every woman to dress according to what makes her feel stylish, confident and beautiful.
I created this blog to to unite all women and give them confidence to be themselves. The Her in Herjab represents independence. She is herself. She is her. She is every woman. She is you.
