We’re Never Told To Be Bold
The color red is associated with power, strength, energy, passion and love. All these elements together represent strength. In Ancient Rome, the most powerful men were called “coccinati”, which means “the ones who wear red”. Whenever I’m wearing this color I feel empowered and strong. But the definition of strength and boldness can mean various things.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a talk by Sheryl Sandberg. I was mesmerized by her strength to get up on stage and talk about her husband’s death. The talk was about her book “Option B” and how it helps people deal with the grieving process. It made me think of how women are never told to be bold. Seeing her up there cry and grief in front of the audience was a bold move for her. Women are portrayed as the emotional gender and I don’t why that is associated with weakness. Being in touch with your emotions and acknowledging how you feel takes a lot of strength.
Acknowledging your feelings is easier said than done. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to come to that realization that it’s not bad to be sad. I always felt that if I cried or let myself feel down that I was a weak woman. I thought that wallowing around was a negative thing since I pictured myself as a strong woman. But there is strength in allowing yourself to feel sad. If we never feel that way we won’t know how it feels to be happy.
I hope that anyone out there that feels that they’re weak because they can’t simply smile or feel happy know that they are strong. It takes a bold person to be in touch with their feelings and face reality. So know that you are bold because you are in touch with your feelings and celebrate how you feel by wearing something red.

Since red represents strength and boldness I decided to wear this bright red bomber jacket. I love WHO WHAT WEAR, and thank God Target now carries their collection. Red is a bold and bright color, so pairing it with black pants and a black shirt will make the color stand out even more. So go be bold and buy yourself something red!
