Why Women Should Never March Alone
As the Women’s March approaches on January 21, 2017 we need to remind ourselves that every day women are marching through life. Young girls are marching into womanhood. Young women are marching into their careers. Mothers are marching to keep their families together. Women march every day. We march because we each have a purpose. There are people who criticize us because they don’t believe in our purpose. But it is a sad day when women don’t support other women. We may not each have the same purpose, but we need to remember we are all in this march of life together. We march because it wasn’t and still isn’t easy to be a woman in this world. But we don’t need to march alone.
This new year has allowed me to think of the direction my blog should take. I don’t want it to be a fashion blog only. I want it to represent fashion with a purpose. Every fashion post from now on will have a story of where the inspiration came from and how it connects to the world.
My inspiration for this post was the upcoming Women’s March. I chose to wear an office outfit because I believe that everyday waking up as a woman is a job and a duty. As a Muslim woman in America, this job is not that easy. I should not be marching through this struggle alone. It is my job to support other women through the march they take on everyday. It is also my job to stand up for my rights and to work on never letting anyone take them away from me. This is my march and I dress up for this job.
It’s also my job to share my fashion tips! I got this vest from Banana Republic. Banana Republic is one of the best credits cards to open because you get lots of reward points with each purchase. Always open a merchant credit with stores that give back with each purchase. That’s why most of my clothes are cheaper than the norm because with my kind of shopping those reward points need to kick in. This vest pairs great with dress pants or cropped black pants like the ones I’m wearing. I was going for a simple sophisticated look, so pointed black heels are always the answer for this look. Cropped pants are great if you want to show off your shoes. I paired it with a shoulder bag and was ready to head out. And of courseI got this outfit on sale!
